Newcastle United have signed German goalkeeper Loris Karius to a one-year contract extension until January.
The 29-year-old was a free agent after leaving Liverpool in the summer, and a contract extension until the end of the season is possible.
After back-up keeper Karl Darlow sustained an ankle injury, Karius was brought in.
“I thought it was the ideal assignment for me,” he added, “and I’m delighted to work with the coaches and my new teammates.”
Newcastle lost fellow goalkeeper Martin Dubravka to Manchester United on a season-long loan during the summer, while Nick Pope signed from Burnley.

“He [Karius] is a very excellent keeper with Premier League and European experience,” Eddie Howe stated of his goalkeeper.
